DRIVE Health Statement on Amazon, Berkshire, and JPMorgan Chase new health care company
Today’s announcement that Amazon, Berkshire, and JPMorgan Chase are teaming up to create a company that will provide U.S. employees with “simplified, high quality and transparent healthcare at a reasonable cost” is yet another sign that American businesses are fed up with our country’s expensive, subpar healthcare system. It is our hope that policymakers take this as a message that they need to take steps to improve the quality and cost of care provided by public programs such as Medicare and to follow the lead that the private sector has set with value-based purchasing strategies. As the single largest purchaser of health care, the federal government can’t afford to stay on the sidelines. Policymakers must work in concert with business leaders to solve the problems in our health care system. We created DRIVE Health to help accelerate this collaboration.
